Experience Center: The Gmünder Eule
Getting young people excited about technology
Chocal is proud to sponsor the experience center "Eule Gmünder Wissenswerkstatt". It was established in 2014 as a European lighthouse project with funding from the EU and the state of Baden-Württemberg. The founding idea was to attract children and young people to technology. The Eule supplements the theory-heavy school system with practical activities and supports the Ostalbkreis economic region with innovative technical learning opportunities.
The Eule offers space for basic manufacturing techniques such as woodworking and metalworking, electrical and control engineering, screen printing, photographic and film technology; as well as for many innovative topics such as robotics, various programming languages, 3D printing, augmented and virtual reality and artificial intelligence applications.
Young people experience and understand technical phenomena better through their own experiments and applications than through theoretical learning alone. By building products or in dialog with experts from the eule knowledge and support network, they experience what can be achieved with modern technology and their own creativity. Organisation & Management
The city of Schwäbisch Gmünd supports the Gmünder Eule in its goal of deepening regional technological qualification. The Eule offers children, teenagers and young adults application-oriented projects in computer science, natural sciences and technology outside of school lessons. Every year, around 8,000 schoolchildren, children, teenagers and young adults take part in various eule activities and courses.
Methods & Didactics
Our innovative forms of learning offer interesting opportunities to expand school lessons. The Chocal Chocolate Eule even took a trip to space! Students experience the technological bandwidth in order to motivate them to choose a career in science, computer science and technology. The majority of courses at the Gmünder Eule consist of working groups of varying sizes that are individually supervised.
Network & Partnerships
We are in touch with innovative companies, education providers and future-oriented institutions as well as foundations in order to expand our synergetic network and to further develop the Eule as a meeting, knowledge and presentation forum. Together with our partners, we see ourselves as pioneers in the communication of future-oriented technologies and the qualification of young people.
